Categories: Wilsonisms (All About Will)
Since Will's official birthday is on a Wednesday and Wednesdays are busy around here with homework, church, choir, etc, we determined to celebrate Will's birthday a day early. The four of us went out to eat at the restaurant of his choice - Chick-fil-a - and then came home for cake.
I lit the candles and then Gigi blew them out. I lit them again. Gigi blew them out.
"No Geeg! It's my birthday!" Will explained.
"Oh, ok." She sat back while I lit the candles a third time. "You make a wish, Willie?"
"Yeah." He said, still frowning at her for blowing out his birthday candles. There are few things more irritating to a seven year old than having ones birthday candles blown out by someone else, especially if that someone else is a 3 year old sister.
Gigi began singing "Happy Birthday" to her brother. When we finished singing he looked thoughtful and then bent forward carefully to blow out all of his candles. I took the cake and began cutting it. The kids made small talk while they waited for their cake.
"You make a wish Willie?" Gigi asked.
"Yeah." He answered.
"What was it?" Chris asked.
"I wished that Geeg would get a pony." He said, smiling.
"That's really sweet." I said, handing him a piece of cake. I hugged him. Gigi beamed. She loves horses. She loves ponies. And, since he used his birthday wish on her getting a pony, she loved her brother. A lot. She was elated with the idea of getting a pony.
"Oh!" She smiled. "Thanks! I love you!' She hugged him. As she was hugging him, Will's sweet smile turned into an evil smirk.
"And then," he smiled sheepishly, "I wished I had a dinosaur so it would eat her pony."
