Categories: Ponderosa (When it all goes bad...)
So yesterday our electricity went out. Not unusual - the utilities in our neighborhood are not reliable. We have had un-interrupted water and electricity now since December, so we figured we were due. The power went out and we went through our "Utility Ponderosa" checklist: fuse box normal, outside box fine, neighbors' power also out. We call the utility company. And that's when the news came.
Rolling Blackouts.
It has been hot here. Sunday when we stopped for dinner in Waco on our way back to Fort Worth the thermometer in the car read 101. Yesterday at lunch the car thermometer read 104. Apparently everyone in Dallas-Fort Worth likes to use their air conditioner when the temperature reaches 100. Apparently this took the utility company off guard. They cut off power in areas for 15 minutes at a time to keep their "grid stable".
Forecast for today: 100 with rolling blackouts likely.
